  1. Primer 171 is a two-component epoxy resin/amidoamine/hardener system.
  2. Superior Liquid Binder shall be a 100% solids liquid epoxy containing no non-reactive diluents, solvents or extenders and the hardener shall be amidoamine or amine base, containing no more than 45% inert pigments for color.
  3. Aggregate shall be a washed and dried silica sand having proper gradation to provide maximum reinforcement. The combined aggregate, pigments or inert filler combination, when mixed with Superior Liquid Binder shall not exceed a ration of 4.5 to 1.
  4. Superior Gloss is a two-component epoxy consisting of an epoxy resin and hardener formulated to provide a protective and easily cleanable finish coat.

Part 3: Execution

Surface Preparation:

  1. Keying: Where epoxy resurfacing does not extend continuously from wall to wall, a key, a ˝” wide by ˝” deep, shall be cut around the perimeter of the area to be resurfaced. Keying shall also be performed at doorways.
  2. Mechanical Cleaning: All concrete floor surfaces receiving over-layment shall be thoroughly cleaned and prepared by shot-blasting.

Application:

  1. Primer 171 shall be applied to the prepared concrete substrate at a rate sufficient to result in a complete wetting out of the concrete with no dry areas.
  2. Superior Liquid Binder mixed with the proper amount of aggregate shall be applied to the primed substrate before the primer is totally cured so as to permit molecular cross-linking.
    1. The mixture shall first be spread by hand, using steel trowels.
    2. The mixture shall then be hand or machine-troweled to a minimum thickness of 3/16” above the highest point of the floor.
  3. Superior Gloss (Optional) can be used to achieve a desired finish ranging from smooth to heavy nonskid.
